Natural disaster occurrence in 2007
The map illustrates for every country the occurrence of natural disasters (as defined in the EM-DAT database) in 2007.
Reported data confirms the global upward trend in natural disaster occurrence. This upward trend is mainly driven by the increase in the number of hydrological (essentially floods) and meteorological (storms) disasters, which are the major contributors to this pattern.
