Managing disaster risks for a resilient future: a strategy for the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery, 2013 - 2015
This strategy for the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) is set in a context of global consensus on the urgent need to build greater resilience to disasters. It has two main objectives: to revise the existing strategy to take account of the evolution and impact of GFDRR during the period 2009-12, and to streamline the existing strategy in order to more clearly articulate the vision, mission, pillars of action and guiding principles of GFDRR. The document is divided into four sections: (i) section one introduces the objectives of GFDRR; (ii) section two outlines the seven problems which their strategy aims to solve, particularly the lack of financing in disaster risk reduction and ineffective policies; (iii) section three explains GFDRR's operational strategy which includes their vision, mission, theory of change, five pillars of action, and agenda for monitoring and evaluation; (iv) and section four explains their strategy for implementation.
