This publication demonstrates successfull initiatives that have been taken in Asia to ensure an equal treatment of all in society before, during and after disasters, and more specifically in the Philippines, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal.
Statistics show that women are disproportionately negatively affected by disasters. As stated in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the reduction of risks from disasters requires engagement and partnernship from all in society.
