Planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of FSM’s climate change adaptation actions need improvement
The Office of the National Public Auditor in the Federated States of Micronesia concluded that the country’s planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of climate change adaptation actions require significant improvement. The audit found that FSM has not yet developed a National Adaptation Plan (NAP) to guide preparation for both current and future climate risks and to build climate resilience across society and ecosystems. It also identified instances of non-compliance with the Climate Change Act, poor coordination of adaptation policies, plans, and actions, and gaps in climate finance planning, which limit the nation’s ability to protect people and resources effectively. Strengthening these areas is necessary to advance coordinated, effective adaptation actions in FSM.
