About
The Organización de Bomberos Americanos (OBA) / Organization of American Firefighters (OAF) was created for and by firefighters from the American continent, currently,OAF has 24 active members and 4 adherent members, representing firefighters organizations from 17 countries and, through them, more than 1 million firefighters, including, volunteers, employed, military and police.
OAF pursues the professionalization of local fire departments, through which further contributes to reducing disaster risk in communities across the continent. For this reason, OAF organizes several free training workshops and competitions of firefighting skills in different host countries. OAF also works on the design of strategic plans to promote the adoption of international standards and technological innovation in America.
Mission Statement
The Organización de Bomberos Americanos (OBA) / Organization of American Firefighters (OAF) has as its main objective to promote institutional cooperation between firefighting organizations across America, in order to professionalize the management of local fire departments. All OAF projects are guided by a firm conviction on cooperation and mutual learning as growth strategy; and are formulated based on the values of professionalism, open and inclusive participation, and respect for the community and the social value of the firefighter’s vocation.
Vision
To be, in ten years, the continental reference organization in training, intervention strategies and technological innovation in equipment for firefighters.
