Global heat action
In response to the rising risks and impacts of extreme heat, there are a growing number of organizations and initiatives advancing research, and supporting strengthened heat risk-informed policy, decision-making, and scaled-up investment and heat action. The partners and initiatives highlighted below are but a snapshot of these and are not to be considered exhaustive nor representative of the enormous bodies of work addressing extreme heat risk. Their work complements that featured in this portal, and forms part of the collective endeavour to accelerate and scale up action for heat resilience.
The Extreme Heat Action profiles below, are the result of a joint exercise led by the Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) mapping and showcasing heat action and key learning across the United Nations system and international organizations. The resulting sixteen Extreme Heat Action profiles highlight specific initiatives, priorities and contributions provided by respective organizations.
Please feel free to contact UNDRR should you wish to see your work or your organization represented here, or information provided here updated.
