The Conference in San'a will be the second regional initiative on disaster risk management and reduction to be held as a regional follow-up after the World Conference on Disaster Reduction held in Kobe, Japan, 18-22 January 2005, and subsequent adoption of Hyogo Framework for Action. The first Middle East and North Africa Regional Conference on “Building Partnerships for Disaster Risk Reduction and Hazard Risk Management” was successfully held in Cairo, 18-21 April 2007.
