Tobong'ulore: Pastoral communities festival and climate related disaster risks

The aim of this cultural festival is to raise awareness of IGAD cross-border efforts to reduce climate related disaster risks in the region, and to collect feedback on activities in the cluster. IGAD was represented by the IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Center (ICPAC), the IGAD Center for Pastoral Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD) and the Conflict Early Warning and Response Mechanism (CEWARN). 

During this festival, the IGAD team will demonstrate IGAD cross-border work in areas of peacebuilding, conflict resolution, resource mapping, climate early warning, animal health, and dry rangeland development, alternative livelihoods so as to support and contribute to building resilient communities against external and internal shocks.

The festival will be attended by a number of dignitaries, including Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya Mr. Ruto, and Cabinet Secretaries, Senators, Governors, senior government officials and county government leadership.
