On the Friday 28 January 2022, the Special Session on Reducing Avoidable Disaster Deaths Through Effective Mitigation and Response will be held.
This Special Session will focus on reducing avoidable deaths from natural-hazard related disasters including floods, droughts and earthquakes. The speakers will share their mitigation and response research and experiences from Iran, Oman and Portugal.
The webinar is organised by the Avoidable Deaths Network in collaboration with the University of Tehran’s School of Environment.
Speakers will include Professor Mehdi Zaré (IIEES), Dr. Mohammad Reza Nikoo (Sultan Qaboos University), Dr. Mohammad Hossein Niksokhan (University of Tehran), Ms. Sanam Moghimi (LNEC) and Dr. Mostafa Mohaghegh (UNESCAP).
The session will be chaired by Dr. Khadije Norouzi Khatiri (ADN and the University of Tehran), Dr. Nibedita Ray-Bennett (ADN and the University of Leicester) and Dr. Hideyuki Shiroshita (ADN and the University of Kansai).
