Course purpose

The 2nd Regional Training Course in Incident Command System for Disaster Management (ICS-2) addresses the importance of ICS in emergency response management and planning. The course provides an in-depth knowledge on the ICS, covering a range of topics that are essential to the application of ICS in disaster response management. The good practices and lesson learned on the application of ICS in the region will be shared. The course is designed to enable practitioners to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System focusing on the management of single resources.

Overall course objectives

Participants completing this course should be able to:
- Describe the features and characteristics of ICS
- Identify the ICS organization appropriate to the complexity of an incident
- Manage incidents by objectives
- Efficiently operate under ICS to response to incidents or events

Course approach and content

The ICS-2 offers a mixture of interactive lectures, hands-on training with series of table top simulation exercises, lessons learned and good practices of ICS case studies, field visit and other adult learning methodologies.
