Let's Invest: Join Us for a National Mitigation Investment Strategy Webinar

We've long known mitigation is the number one action we can take to reduce the impacts of disaster. We also know how difficult it can be to overcome barriers to mitigation. Now the federal interagency Mitigation Framework Leadership Group (MitFLG) has released a Draft National Mitigation Strategy to help find ways to move mitigation knowledge into action.

The current draft version of the Strategy offers initial ideas about how to improve mitigation investment, including increased collaboration, finance innovations, shared responsibility, expanded data sharing, risk-informed communication, and a more resilient built environment. This draft however is just that-a draft- and is only a starting point for conversations about the final national strategy

The strategy is now open for public comment and your feedback is vital to shaping the final product. That's why the Natural Hazards Center is thrilled to announce that we've partnered with MitFLG to bring you the option to attend one of two webinar sessions on the draft strategy. Strategy leaders and coordinators will be available Monday, March 5 to provide an overview of the document and discuss the following:

• What are the best practices for achieving mitigation action that results in community disaster resilience-in particular, how can community and business leaders, as well as individuals, be equipped with tools that help them make informed decisions about future disaster resilience?
• What are the barriers to achieving mitigation and what obstacles need to be overcome for the National Mitigation Investment Strategy to succeed?
