Launch of the ADN junior champion magazine volume 5

Join the Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN) for the Launch of the ADN Junior Champion Magazine, Volume 5.

The Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN) will launch its Junior Champion Magazine, Volume 5 on March 26,  2026, to mark the ADN global campaign launched on March 12, 2023, the International Awareness Day for Avoidable Deaths (IAD4AD). This special edition, with the ISSN 2759-0380, will be unveiled during a virtual event at 1:00 PM GMT.

The ADN Junior Champion Magazine was first launched in 2023 under the Future Leader Scheme. It is a platform for children and youths to share their stories from the frontlines of climate change and extreme weather. Guided by subject-specific experts, each issue explores a timely theme. For this volume, Mr. Muhammad Asad Tahir and Ms. Tahira Khan from Pakistan served as guest editors.

This edition aligns with the International Awareness Day for Avoidable Deaths (IAD4AD) campaign by amplifying the voices of youth who have experienced floods, cyclones, landslides, and climate-related disasters firsthand. As one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries, Pakistan offers a powerful case study of vulnerability and resilience. This Volume highlights the lived realities of young people from Chiniot and surrounding regions, showing how climate change and extreme weather are shaping their everyday lives.

Through stories written in collaboration with teachers and schools such as Chenab College Chiniot, Pearls Education City, and Masoomeen Schools & College, the Magazine demonstrates how education plays a vital role in building awareness and preparedness. From disrupted schooling to brave community efforts, these contributions show that proactive measures can save lives and reduce long-term harm.

Despite uncertainty and loss, the young authors write with courage, responsibility, and hope. This Volume provides a platform for the next generation to share their fears and aspirations, reminding readers that children are not only affected by disasters, but are also key to building safer and more resilient futures.
