The Multi-Risk Project will host the International Multi-Risk Seminar on April 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2024, in the auditorium of the International Institute of Physics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). This event aims to qualify and disseminate debates in scenarios involving multiple risks.

The complete schedule can be accessed here. The event will include the participation of international experts in lectures, round table discussions, work presentation sessions, and a workshop dedicated to implementing potential solutions for reducing disaster risks.

Call for papers

The central objective of the International Multi-risk Seminar is to advance the conceptual and methodological debate on how to evaluate and manage contexts where multiple risks overlap and result in other forms. Abstracts in Portuguese and English are accepted in this call, based on empirical and theoretical works and systematic literature reviews.

Among the thematic approaches are:

Multi-risks in the context of climate change Participatory mapping/social cartography Multiple risk monitoring and alerting Risk communication and social mobilization Methodologies to improve risk and disaster management Multi-risks and socio-environmental vulnerabilities

Expanded abstracts (up to 1,000 words) must be sent in word, with title, five keywords and identification of authorship via the registration form or to email: projetomultirrisco@gmail.com.

Submissions opening: December 10, 2023

Submissions end: February 10, 2024

Announcement of accepted works: February 15, 2024

Payment for registrations can be made after acceptance has been announced.

To participate in the International Multi-Risk Seminar, complete the form corresponding to your category (attendee or paper presenter) and pay the registration fee, according to your status:

Professionals and teachers: R$ 250,00 Postgraduate students (specialization, master’s and doctorate): R$150,00 Undergraduate students: R$50,00 Payment for registration must be made via PIX or bank deposit to Jovem Explorador e o Ecomuseu, partner of the Multi-Risk International Seminar.
