About

Is your city or region threatened by the consequences of climate change? Do you think your local government could be better prepared to face crises and conflicts? Have you heard about the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction?

Making cities and regions more resilient and safer is one of the main challenges for local and regional governments (LRGs) in the coming years. This online course is designed to support all relevant stakeholders at the local, regional, and national level, and provide them with knowledge, understanding, and basic tools to integrate disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience building into local public policies, strategies, and development plans.

What will you learn?

  • The key concepts in risk analysis and resilience building
  • How to integrate DRR and resilience building into the policy cycle of LRGs
  • How to achieve robust risk governance with multi-level and multi-stakeholder participation
  • How to identify available financing mechanisms and opportunities
  • How to develop integral and inclusive DRR and resilience building strategies and action plans
  • The roles local and regional government associations (LRGAs) can play to support resilience building
