About
When disasters strike, local governments are on the front line. As climate related disasters become more prevalent, new AHURI research suggests that local governments should include a fourth ‘R’ – for resilience – in addition to their traditional 'rates, roads and rubbish' remits.
What would a resilience remit look like, and what support from other levels of government is required?
This webinar unpacks new AHURI research: 'Inquiry into housing policy and disaster: better coordinating actors, responses and data'. Discussion will explore what effective disaster management approaches look like, and how coordination and collaboration between governments can be improved to support disaster resilient housing and communities.
Lead researcher, Professor David Sanderson, The University of New South Wales will discuss the key findings of the research with Melinda Dewsnap, City of Sydney, facilitated by Dr Tom Alves, AHURI Head of Business Development.
