Learn about the landscape of forecast-based financing in climate change (CC) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) context, and how to shift from post-response funding to early action.

This is a free interactive online course on forecast-based financing. It is predominantly for participants of the RedR UK Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction programme.

RedR UK is offering a free of charge, innovative, high-quality online training course aiming to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to be part of the paradigm shift from reactive to proactive financing solutions in humanitarian action. It is a practical course on understanding forecast-based financing systems and implementing forecast-based action.

The training consists of a series of webinars and reading for participants to engage with, before joining a live, practical seminar (see time details on this page for the live session). In total, participants will be expected to spend about 3.5 hours on this training.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the paradigm shift from reactive to proactive response in DRM
  • Analyse how FbF is different than any other preparedness and DRR activities
  • Set triggers and thresholds, and involve the community in designing early actions

**Please note there are limited spaces on each module, and we will be operating a first-come, first-serve policy**

Who should attend?

This course is predominantly designed for participants who have been through the 6-week RedR UK Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction programme. However, places will also be given to participants in NGOs, humanitarian organizations, local and national government, or private sector, who are CCA and DRR practitioners. The course will be delivered in English.
