Community based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) web based course: pilot test
ADPC has been organizing Community based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) regional training program annually. This year, ADPC through its project called: PDRSEA (Partnership for Disaster Reduction – South East Asia) phase 4 is trying to launch an online course on CBDRR. This initiative was raised due to the fact that disaster management practitioners most of the time is busy with task at the field. Having the course online will help the practitioners to keep working on their duty place, and at the same time learning and sharing the experience of CBDRR.
Objective
The objective of this course is to build up capacity of DM practitioners, and also to share and learn their experiences in CBDRR. In addition to that, by the end of the course, the participants will be expected to be able to:
- Examine various models of disaster risk management
- Design and conduct CBDRR assessment
- Identify measures for hazard and vulnerability reduction, and community capacity building.
Agenda
- This CBDRR online course is a four-module course.
- The pilot test which will present the first module (context of CBDRR) will take place on 9th April 2008. The course duration is 18 days, in total.

Target Audience
Disaster management practitioners with active role in rolling out the online disaster risk management capacity building program.
Participants are expected from Indonesia, Philippines, Viet Nam, Cambodia and also Timor Leste and Lao PDR, with special slot will be given to DIPECHO partners organization. Other interested participants need to have approval from the Training Committee.
