About the lecture
Humanity’s rich history displays devastating disasters, including wars, earthquakes, and pandemics. We also show impressive and inspiring successes in avoiding disasters through long-term education, governing, and improving society for everyone. We can and should get ready now for the next centuries of disaster-related challenges. This UCL Lunch Hour Lecture provides a unique centuries-long journey through the hope and horror of our past and future for dealing with disasters, aiming to learn from past disaster difficulties to create fewer disasters today and tomorrow.
