Kathmandu Statement

This statement was adopted in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 5 December, 2018, at the 14th meeting of the Regional Consultative Committee on Disaster Management. The statement calls for Asian and Pacific countries to enhance coherence across policies, institutions, goals, indicators, and monitoring systems for implementing key global DRR and sustainable development frameworks, particularly the Sendai Framework, the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Agenda for Humanity, and the New Urban Agenda.

The statement also calls upon development partners to support and invest in regional efforts for achieving coherence. Moreover, the document features a series of provisions addressing relevant stakeholders and how they can strengthen coherence and DRR.
