The Times and Democrat reported that the Greater Orangeburg Area Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities will hold a town hall meeting. The mission of the forum is to promote the dignity and safety of disabled people with a focus on increasing their disaster preparedness skills. There will be a presentation on disaster preparedness for people with disabilities and the topics will include tornado safety, hurricane preparation, food and water in an emergency and planning and making a kit.

"We’re all talking about trying to get those emergency weather radios so that people will know when a storm is coming or approaching," said Mr Bryant, co-chairperson of the committee.
