Disasters, MDGs and development - all sides of the same coin

According to Reuters AlertNet, experts show evidence that 'the more developed a country, the better it tends to cope with natural disasters and conflicts.' They urge governments and aid agencies to pursue the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and development policies, in coordination with progress on disaster risk reduction, linking them to natural resources availability, hunger and poverty reduction, gender, education and school safety, for communities to better cope during disasters.
