How do floods affect people, especially the poorer population, living in flood-prone areas? What attracts them to settle in these areas and how do they cope with the impacts of floods?

When private companies are affected by disasters, the impacts are felt by the whole society. It affects access to goods and services for people and other businesses, as well as jobs and recovery for afflicted communities.

Tanzania is among the priority countries benefitting from the implementation of WHO Emergency Preparedness and Response projects that aim to promote multisectoral convergence of resources and skills for rapid and efficient response to a disaster.

On 25 May 2022, the “DARAJA: The inclusive city – community forecasting and early warning service” was presented by Resurgence at the Ignite Stage during the Global Platform 2022.

The study suggests that increasing temperatures under climate change are likely to be a significant risk to human health in Africa, as many cities may have similar features as Dar es Salaam, increasing the heat vulnerability of informal settlements.
