WWF key country demands for Cancun

Source(s):  World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF)

This paper provides a list of 'policy prescriptions' for eleven of the world's most influential nations to bring to the table of the UN climate negotiations in Cancun, Mexico from 29 November to 10 December, 2010. It reminds the governments and the UN of their role to protect vulnerable countries, communities and ecosystems from climate impacts and calls governments to provide a framework and guidance through an international regime, so that non-state actors can play their part. It also calls for innovative sources of financing to generate the scale required to undertake actions to prevent catastrophic climate change and protect the vulnerable from climate impacts, among other recommendations.

The eleven countries include the US, UK, South Africa, China, Russia, Mexico, Japan, India, Germany, European Union and Brazil.
