Background
Following the Haiti earthquake of January 2010, under the co-ordination framework of the International Federation of Red Cross/Crescent Societies (IFRC), the British Red Cross Society (BRCS) established a programme to assist affected communities to respond to the disaster.
Two years on, the BRCS’s focus has shifted towards recovery and regeneration, with a flagship programme based in the Delmas area of Port-au-Prince.
The BRCS programme activities focus around an integrated community approach to urban neighbourhood recovery, including risk reduction and improving community resilience through sustainable livelihoods safe housing, public health improvements and infrastructure repairs and regeneration. This project will run to the end of 2013.
The role
BRCS is looking for an experienced, resourceful manager who will lead, motivate and support the implementation of administrative, human resource and finance functions, ensuring that they are effective and efficiently run. The manager will oversee and document the establishment and management of working processes across teams to ensure the development and implementation of high quality programme and support functions. And as a critical member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), s/he will contribute to the overall achievement of programme goals.
The ideal candidate will have considerable overseas experience in a relief or recovery/ development context; of managing and supporting staff; and of managing and monitoring projects and budgets. S/he will be a excellent communicator in English and French.
