Bangladesh: Divisional level sharing workshop

Sponsored by Concern Universal a day long workshop on `Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation’ held at BDS auditorium on October 02, 2011. INDAB executive director SI Kabir presided the session and chief guest chair ornamented by honorable MP advocate Talukder Md. Younus. Function was decorated by different level government official, LGI leader, civil society member, media personnel, teacher from different level educational institution, religious leader.

After the inaugural session representative Concern Universal Mr. Masud Rana presented a video show on disaster in our country, sequences and causes of those. Aftermath in open discussion civil surgeon Dr. Mizanur Rahman opine “we are densely populated country and in any casualty is high. Due to over population we are poor and unable take adopt disaster risk reduction measures. Virtually our prime duty right now initiate effort for population control.”

MAP executive director Mr. Suvankar Charabarti opine “we must concentrate on environmental justice. Strengthening cultivation in low lying area we cannot address the problem.”

Honorable chief guest opine “mass people awareness on climate change and impact is urgent. We must find the way to address through collective and cooperative effort.” He urges to all to be more active and effective to address the climatic impact.

Honorable president Mr. SI Kabir added, “we must invest our best effort to address the climatic impact and try to involve community as maximum as possible. Today’s suggestion and comment would be recorded properly and presented to relevant authority and agency. We hope our efforts will pursue strengthen the government and other agency initiative regarding CMDRR.” He concluded the session with the vote of thanks to all participants and honorable MP.
