The Bachelor addresses different social, cultural, economic, environmental, political and gender dimensions in disaster management. It specifically covers the concepts of disasters, hazards, disaster management policies, programmes and frameworks (UNFCC, HFA, SFA, SoD, DMA, NDMP, Regulatory framework etc.); approaches to disaster management; vulnerabilities and theories of vulnerabilities, disaster response and preparedness; structural and non-structural measures against disasters; gender dimensions to disaster and gender rights; gender violence during disaster; poverty; coping and adaptation mechanisms; mitigation; risk reduction; capacity building; mainstreaming disaster risk reduction and community risk assessment; damage, loss and need assessment; social impact assessment; environmental need assessment; climate change and food security; health and vulnerability during disaster; urban-rural differences to disaster response and relevant issues to disaster management.
The Bachelor shall be four years duration and divided into 8 (eight) semesters. Each semester shall be 19 weeks, of which 15 (fifteen) weeks for class teaching 1 (one) week break for preparation, and 3 (three) weeks for holding the semester final examinations
