Trelawny Parish disaster plan
Trelawny is found on the West North West section of Jamaica. The parish is made up of mainly limestone rocks and mainly underground drainage. Within its confines can be found the Queen of Spain Valley, with numerous rivulets and rivers, the principal river being Martha Brae. Like the rest of Jamaica, the parish is exposed to a number of natural hazards.
This plan seeks to document the stakeholders of disaster management in Trelawny, their roles and responsibilities, available resources, critical infrastructure in addition to other relatable information. The purpose of the plan is to reduce or avoid the potential losses from hazards, assure prompt and appropriate assistance to the victims of a disaster, and achieve a rapid and effective recovery. It is crucial that essential services remain safe after a disaster. Hence, having a plan to guide the different stages of disaster management is crucial.
