K-12 photo and essay contest: International day of disaster risk reduction

How do girls and women in the USA build disaster resilience? Ask the young people in your life to explain through art or an essay. Please encourage them to enter this exciting contest marking October 13, 2012 as the International Day for Disaster Reduction, with the theme "Women and Girls–the (in)Visible Forces of Resilience." The contest is co-sponsored by the US Gender and Disaster Resilience Alliance, sister network to the global GDN, and by EMPOWER ("empowering emergency management one woman at a time."). Thanks for circulating the informational flyer far and wide, noting that only US residents in grades K-12 may apply–and that entries are due Sunday, September 30.

[Ed Note: K-12 = kindergarten through 12th grade, commonly 5-18 years of age]
