Call for contribution for 'ISDR Informs 4'
The UNISDR Asia & Pacific is pleased to launch a call for contribution for its annual publication on disaster risk reduction “Disaster Reduction in Asia & Pacific – ISDR Informs: Issue 4, 2008” that will be issued in March 2009 to reflect the status of disaster risk reduction in 2008 in the Asia and Pacific region. Please note that special focus will be placed in this edition on achievements, innovative approaches, projects and activities focusing on Building Resilience to Tsunami.
A proposed format of issue 4 is attached to guide your submissions. Contribution may include description of projects and initiatives, articles on selected themes and announcements of relevant events in the field of disaster risk reduction and management. Good practices and lessons learned on disaster risk reduction (DRR) along the lines of Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) are particularly welcome to identify DRR successful initiatives that can be adapted are replicated in other countries. Articles or opinion pieces about projects, activities, programs, educational initiatives, scientific and technical papers are also strongly encouraged, as are news about upcoming workshops, seminars, meetings, publications, videos, CD-ROMs and other materials related to disasters.
Submission may include photographs, graphs, charts, and other illustrations. However, they should not exceed 1,500 words. Brevity is appreciated in order to display the broadest possible spectrum of ideas and case studies. When using acronyms of national and even regional bodies please quote the name of the agency or institution in full the first time you mention it. It is also essential for you to include at the end of your text detailed contact information of the person and organization to which enquiries may be directed (name, institution, telephone, fax numbers, postal address, and email address).
