Summary

Chemonics seeks a team leader to head a climate change study under the anticipated five-year, USAID-funded Mekong River Basin Climate Change Adaptation project in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. The project aims to increase communities' adaptation capacity and resilience to climate change, strengthen human and institutional capacity to develop and implement climate change adaptation plans and strategies, and build sustainable regional learning networks to share and replicate best practices. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities

- Oversee and implement development of study work plan, proposed methodologies and models, planned data sources, and milestones and draft annotated outline for final report
- Supervise and manage stakeholders engaged in the study, including the coordination of scientists in partner institutions
- Complete interim report at project's midpoint, identifying progress and constraints
- Draft and complete final project report and plan workshop to discuss report and identify implications for integrated adaptation projects in the basin

Qualifications

- Graduate degree in environmental sciences, natural resource management, biodiversity management, or related field
- Strong knowledge and work experience with the agriculture cropping systems in Southeast Asia required
- Demonstrated management experience leading a major scientific study
- Relevant work experience in agriculture or ecosystem research, including experience with climate change impact studies and applying climate change forecast information with agriculture suitability or ecosystem envelope models preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Willingness to work in a developing country
- Fluency in English
