Disasters, environment and risk reduction – Eco-DRR master’s module: Instructor’s manual
This instructor's manual was designed for the master's degree module "Disasters, Ecosystems and Risk Reduction" and is designed to assist instructors in the structuring and teaching of this module. It summarizes the rationale, goals, and guidance notes for the module and each session.
This graduate level module is expected to have multiple benefits:
- It will create a generation of students who have had structured training on the topic which they can develop further in research or apply in the field, based on their career progression.
- It will lead to more research work undertaken in this area as some of the graduate students may choose this topic for their research.
- It will also expose university professors and specialists to this field of practice so they can better serve as technical advisors, address knowledge gaps through further study, propose new applications that are practicable and up-scalable.
- It will generate more interdisciplinary interest and knowledge products in due course.
The course was jointly developed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Center for Natural Resources and Development (CNRD) based at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (CUAS), Germany.
