To support achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 7, Cologne University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) established the Center for Natural Resources Development hosted at the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT). CNRD is a knowledge hub and network regarding issues on assessing and managing the natural resources base as prerequisite for sustainable development. While the focal point is in Cologne there are major satellites in ten partner universities worldwide. CNRD is open for partnerships with further universities and with institutions and companies from the public and the private sector. The following themes are addressed in teaching, research, and training of CNRD partners: - Integrated water resources management - Land use dynamics and biodiversity - Energy efficiency and renewable energy resources - Regional management and sustainable livelihoods of the poor
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
