Professor Tuija I Pulkkinen asserts that 'human-induced and natural variability of climate change affects us all, but in very different ways' and points to the EU Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme and its focus on space-based monitoring of the environment as one example of geoscience's role and responsibility.
