Does private finance support climate change adaptation?

Source(s): Environmental Finance

According to Environmental Finance, the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) has questioned the efficiency of using private finance to fund climate change adaptation in developing countries, through their working paper: "Will Private Finance Support Climate Change Adaptation in Developing Countries?"

Stockholm-based research fellow Aaron Atteridge, author of the paper, admitted that the financing of climate change adaptation is "a complicated puzzle to put together. I’d like to see the finance industry itself a bit more actively engaged in supporting the analysis. It would be nice to get their expertise to unpick this puzzle on what kinds of investments go to developing countries and how they match, or mismatch, adaptation needs."
