MSc Programme in Sustainability
Tokyo
UNU-IAS programmes aim to produce the policymakers and researchers of tomorrow, who will be at the forefront of global efforts towards a more sustainable future.
MSc programme is a two-year programme, which provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to contribute to solving challenges of sustainability. Drawing on an innovative, interdisciplinary approach, the programme integrates methods and resources from the natural and social sciences, as well as the humanities.
UNU-IAS students benefit from the unique opportunity to study in central Tokyo at a global university within the framework of the United Nations. Students gain both academic knowledge and practical research skills by actively contributing to the institute’s policy-oriented research projects.
Enrolled students also will have the opportunity to obtain credits not only from UNU-IAS but other leading universities in Japan. Joint diplomas programmes with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Science (UT-GSFS) and Sophia University are also available.
Courses offered for the programme correspond to the three UNU-IAS research areas, under the overarching theme of sustainability:
