India: Green march in Ahmedabad for the International Day for Disaster Reduction

Dozens of students and several faculty members involved in Disaster Management, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning and Management participated in the event of Green March organised by Nirma University, Ahmedabad on 13th October which is the International Day for Disaster Reduction.The march was organised as a part of societal concern initiative of the institute.

The march was carried out in the heart of Ahmedabad city (from Sabarmati Ashram to Income Tax Chaar Rasta) in Western India.
Through the march, the students and their faculty mentors will try to create the awareness about the environmental issues and strategies for disaster risk reduction. Students and their faculty members will dispaly messages and information through placards and banners in order to create mass awareness on these critical issues of societal concern. This is the first time in the history of Nirma university that such a march has been organised on issues pertaining to societal concern. The march will advocate the above mentioned issues among the city population.
