Early action can mitigate impact of disaster; Africa sets an example

A pilot project by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in three countries in the Horn of Africa shows that early intervention is an effective way of responding to disasters such as drought. Early warning systems can thus help vulnerable communities cope with disaster events when early actions are taken.
