In the framework of the regional project “Knowledge FOr Resilient society (K-FORCE)” funded and with support from European Commission, within ERASMUS + program, in EPOKA University, Department of Civil Engineering, a new Professional Master study program, entitled Disaster Risk Management and Fire Safety in Civil Engineering, will be open this academic year 2018-2019. This program is developed according to regional needs and contemporary EU trends.
The program's goals are to further train professionals in Disaster Risk Management and Fire Safety in Civil Engineering who are able to work effectively in teams across a large range of scales and with a well-developed knowledge. The program offers a unique blend of courses in different natural disasters and not only. Students will share working methods, acquire additional skills, and explore new avenues of professional development under the supervision of an interdisciplinary group of faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering at Epoka University and guest lectures from the region, members of K-Force Project.
The Professional Master degree in Disaster Risk Management and Fire Safety in Civil Engineering, combines a core curriculum with the opportunity to take elective courses tailored to a student's particular areas of interest. These courses typically relate to the student's field of interest and are selected by the student in consultation with department advisor. To earn the Professional Master degree in Disaster Risk Management and Fire Safety in Civil Engineering, students must complete one year in residence, 60 ECTS credits of coursework and the core curriculum.
Target audience
The Professional Master of CE Program in Disaster Risk Assessment and Fire Safety offers one year of advanced study for graduate students with previous professional degrees in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering; Hydro technical Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Architecture. This Professional Master's degree program is an interdisciplinary program of study with a concentrated time for completion. Students must demonstrate evidence of high-quality work and potential for development based on their grade-point average, letters of recommendation. Classes take place in the evenings (6.00 pm – 9.00 pm).
Admission requirement
The program is taught in English. Therefore, Albanian and international applicants from countries in which the official language is not English are required to submit official evidence of English language proficiency.
