The MA Development and Emergency Practice (DEP) course provides a unique academic setting for the study of international development, conflict and peace building, disaster management, urbanisation, humanitarianism, human rights and designing in development/humanitarian contexts. With its emphasis on practice, the course offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes in the rapidly changing fields of development and emergencies.
The programme is targeted at those with, or seeking, careers in NGOs, bilateral or multilateral humanitarian, development and human rights agencies, or governmental, research and corporate organisations.
Apart from a generic MA degree in development and emergencies, we also offer three sub-specialisations namely:
1) Human Rights, Development and Emergencies
2) Disasters, Risks, Shelter and Development
3) Conflict and Humanitarian Action
The MA DEP course and its sub-specialisations have a strong focus on practice. We welcome students to this post graduate course from all academic backgrounds, who have an interest in developing themselves as development and emergency professionals. Our programme offers a range of modules that speak to the challenges of the 21st century.
