Lao: Decree on establishment of national disaster management committee

The following decree based on the constitution of LAO PDR, states that the National Disaster Management Committee is responsible for disaster preparedness and management as a center of coordination in national disaster management. The role and function of National Disaster Management Secretariat will be designed by National Disaster Management Committee. The National Disaster Management Committee is also responsible for direct relief operation, disaster preparedness, response and rehabilitation by using government budget and the contribution of concerned agencies,International organizations and non-governmental organizations, it must regularly report to the Government.

Art. 5 states that national Disaster Management Committee should organize its network from central to local, provinces, districts and villages.
