Disaster risk reduction and climate change advocacy strategy
This strategy paper aims to engage governments, the private sector, development partners and the peoples of the region to collectively address climate change and disaster risk, to address and tame the effects in order to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty. East, Central and the Horn of Africa regions experience diverse weather patterns that severely impact the lives of the people of the region and the environment. Common disasters include drought (65.4%), flooding (14.9%), and epidemics (10%), and other hazards (9.7%). While measures are currently being put in place to mitigate these factors, not much has been done to deal collectively with issues of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation by all actors in the region.
