Established in December 2014, DiMSUR is a sub-regional organisation focused on the development of local, national and regional capacities for reducing vulnerability and building resilience of communities to natural and other hazards in Sub-Saharan Africa.The centre was founded by the Governments of Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique and the Union of Comoros, facilitated by UN-Habitat. Its Headquarter is in Maputo, Mozambique. DIMSUR operates as a non-profit, autonomous, regional organisation, international in status and non-political in management, staffing and operations
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
