Global co-ordination of shortwave frequencies and transmissions employed in international broadcasting.
Setting up a Co-ordinated global platform for a wireless radio service to audiences in disaster situations when local and even regional communication and information networks are destroyed or overloaded and the population affected by the disaster suffers from an information blackout.
The project is completely disaster-resilient due to long-distance property of radio transmissions that travel by means of reflections from the ionosphere. A transmitter can cover easily large - both near or distant - world areas well removed from the disaster area. Receivers are inexpensive and can be independent on the local supply of power.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
