To reduce earthquake landslide hazard in this region. Kangra region was devastated during 1905 great Kangra earthquake and is located in between major thrust zones which are seismically very active. The region has most of the population located on fan sediments which are prone to site amplification. On the other hand the area is also very prone to active slide zones. The present focus is to mitigate the risk by taking pre-disaster studies in the region to make community disaster resilient.
To follow Yokahoma stretegy and work in Hyogo Framework and reduce seismic and landslidee risk in the area.
Earthquake awareness programme is in place fro the school children named : "HIMSELP" where sixty school level seismographs are installed in Himachal and Garhwal Himalaya with a motive to inculcate the culture of disaster prevention among school children and then to the community at large.
Site amplification studies of fan sediments areas are in progress where large population of the area is located.
Hazard scenario are being generated fro 1905 Kangra earthquake considering the present population.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
