Crowdsourcing presents a UN initiative that aims to ensure that space-based information for crowdsource mapping benefits the emergency response community and disaster risk reduction: the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) programme, which mandate is to ensure that all countries, international and regional organizations, have access to space-based information, and to ensure they develop the capacity to use all types of space-based information to support the full, disaster management cycle.
