The Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance invites article submissions for the next issue of Liaison, CFE-DM’s journal of civil-military disaster management and humanitarian relief collaborations. The theme for the Winter 2017 issue is Regional Cooperation in Disaster Management.

The Water Youth Network (WYN) in partnership with Associated Programme on Flood Management (APFM) and Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) have organized a competition for young people (below 35 years) and youth-led organizations that are currently working on any project and or have innovative solutions to flood and drought-related problems.

The 2017 Best Climate Practices Contest aims to award and promote actionable ideas and concrete projects designed to support urban and/or rural communities in preparing and responding to climate disasters, improving local resilience through enhanced preparedness (ex-ante) and/or recovery (ex-post) capacity.

Integrated Research on Disaster Risk invites submissions of policy briefs / articles for the DRR Edition of the Youth Science-Policy Interface Publication coordinated by the UN Major Group for Children & Youth. All submission must be authored or co-authored by someone 30 years or below.

The Anticipate, Absorb, Reshape (A2R) initiative led by the UN Secretary-General is calling for a wide range of innovative and practical solutions – on the local, national and international levels – that can help strengthen early action in communities around the world. The initiative aims to help communities minimize the impact of climate-induced disasters and adapt sustainably to climate change.

Gravitazz is launching a new publication series entitled “African Perspectives on Disaster Risk Reduction”. This quarterly publication series aims at showcasing experts’ views, experiences and best practices in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) on the African continent. The call for papers/abstracts is now open.

IOM, ODI and the Council of Europe are calling for contributions from researchers and practitioners on how migrants and other groups of foreign nationals have been included and have participated in disaster prevention, preparedness, response and recovery activities.

The RISK Award "Information and Communication: Innovative Concepts and Technologies for DRR and DRM", endowed with €100,000, will be given to an innovative project which proves that the intelligent use of modern communication technologies tailored to the needs, culture, and skills of the people affected is a timely tool to combat the serious consequences of a disaster.

The Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DM) invites original submissions from contributors of all backgrounds within the Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (DMHA) community, for its Liaison Magazine. The theme for the Winter 2017 issue is Disaster Preparedness and the deadline for first drafts is January 15, 2017.

After a successful first call, GFDRR and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) have announced a second call of the Challenge Fund, launching Aug 10. The fund pilots new and innovative approaches to strengthen disaster and climate risk decision-making and overcome challenges to availability and accessibility of risk information in developing countries.
