US politicians urged to seize the moment on climate change after Sandy

A panel of experts in New York has urged decision makers to take advantage of the citizen's interest in global warming following the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, and push through bold policies within the next 6-12 months. The group of climate change advocates suggestions include new building codes, moving power lines below ground, wetland restoration, flood barriers, sea gates and the possible relocation of some coastal communities.

"We keep on thinking about these big events like wake up calls," Irwin Redlener, a public health professor. "But really they're more like snooze alarms. I'm hoping that won't be the case here"
