Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2019

posted: 1/5/2019

There are just 12 days to the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2019 (GP2019), in Geneva, Switzerland!

We are looking forward to having you join the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and 4,000 government officials, DRR experts and practitioners, community representatives, media and academics as we discuss how to reduce risk, build resilience and progress a healthy, safe planet for all. We acknowledge the recent tragic events in countries such as Mozambique, Tanzania, and Colombia. There is nothing so urgent as the discussions we will have at GP2019: we must act now, or our future on this planet is in doubt.

We will send a couple of email messages over the next few days so you have the information you need to get the most out of GP2019, and you can also visit https://www.unisdr.org/gp2019 for regular updates.

You can find the links to information documents, including the programme, agenda and logistics note (arrival, transport, weather details etc) here.

We are launching a GP2019 app that you can download from the Apple and Google app stores and use on your laptop, tablet or smartphone. Whilst any one can find and download the app from the stores, only confirmed registered participants will be able to access the app. The app is a great tool for planning your schedule, connecting with other attendees, downloading documents (GP2019 is a paperless conference) and participating in sessions. We will send out an email when this goes live (we anticipate early the week beginning 5 May 2019).

To help us make the GP2019 a ‘minimum paper’ event, we invite you to share publications to be launched during the conference via PreventionWeb. The documents will be featured on the GP2019 website and app.
