A shared vision and commitment for the next 30 years

posted: 14/8/2013

The proceedings of the Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction highlight the four days of deliberations, discussions and presentations via various forums, which called for a shared vision and commitment for the next 30 years. The 2013 Global Platform generated critical and substantive advice for the preparation of the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction, commonly called "HFA2".

This Session also confirmed the positive and increasing global commitment to reducing disaster risk evident in the three previous sessions. As with the others, it was unprecedented in terms of participation, number of events, the quality and insight of the discussions, sharing of practices, and development of new partnerships.

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) is grateful to the large number of organizations and individuals who contributed to the Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, in particular the contribution of the moderators and the panelists for making the event a success. UNISDR further recognizes the volunteers who helped make the Fourth Session possible.
