19 Days to Go

With only 19 days to go, this is an update on the Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction taking place in Geneva, Switzerland from 19-23 May 2013.

There are two attachments to this update.
1. An update which includes the release of the official programme, details on the consultation and preparation days (19 and 20 May), expected outcome documents, and information on the education and community space.
2. A note verbale that has been sent out to all Permanent Missions to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva and New York where appropriate.

Please be reminded that:
- Immediately following the Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, Switzerland will be conducting three field visits on Friday 24 May 2013. Space is still available for Field Visit 1: Route du Grand St. Bernhard - Risk management along an international transit route and Field Visit 3: Seismic Risk Reduction – Earthquake resistant buildings and crisis management. - All participants attending the Global Platform need to register online.
- Participants can collect their badges on Sunday, 19 May to avoid queues on other days.
- Monday 20 May 2013 is a national holiday in Switzerland and public transport will operate according to a holiday schedule. Some restaurants and all banks will be closed. The Global Platform and the Geneva International Conference Centre will be fully operational.
